THE TRADITION CONTINUES: WASILLA WARRIORS READY FOR THE 2026–27 HOCKEY SEASON
10/12/2026

A proud history. A new season. One Warrior family.

WASILLA, ALASKA | October 2026

A new season of Wasilla Warriors hockey is upon us, bringing fresh opportunities, renewed determination, and another chapter in one of the Mat-Su Valley's proudest high school athletic traditions. For generations, the Warriors have represented more than a hockey team. They have represented a community, a commitment to excellence, and a tradition built by the players, coaches, families, and supporters who came before them. As the 2026–27 season approaches, the mission remains unchanged: compete with pride, honor the jersey, and pursue excellence every time the Warriors take the ice.

A Legacy Forged Through Competition

Wasilla hockey has a long and proud history of competing against Alaska's best.

In 1989, the Warriors advanced to the state championship game in a historic all-Valley showdown against Palmer. The game ended in a heartbreaking 4–3 overtime loss, but that championship appearance remains an important chapter in the program's history. More than three decades later, the Warriors returned to the Division I state championship game in 2022, battling Dimond in a closely contested 2–1 loss. Those championship appearances represent more than results on a scoreboard. They reflect generations of dedication, sacrifice, and the pursuit of something greater than individual achievement.

That tradition continues today.

Building on Recent Success

The Warriors have continued to establish themselves as one of Alaska's competitive Division I hockey programs.

During the 2023–24 campaign, Wasilla captured the Railbelt Conference championship and finished third at the Division I state tournament, completing an impressive 18–5–1 season.

The 2025–26 Warriors built upon that foundation with another outstanding campaign. Finishing 20–7–1 overall and undefeated in conference play at 6–0, Wasilla captured both the Railbelt regular-season and conference tournament championships. The Warriors advanced to the Division I state semifinals, continuing the program's tradition of competing on Alaska's biggest high school hockey stage. These accomplishments are a testament to the players who competed, the coaches who led them, and the families and community members who supported them. They also establish the standard for the next generation.

More Than a Jersey

Every season brings a new roster, new challenges, and new opportunities. Veteran players take on greater leadership responsibilities. Younger players compete to establish themselves. New friendships are formed, and returning teammates renew the bonds that make high school hockey special. Yet one thing remains constant.

Wearing the Wasilla Warriors jersey is both a privilege and a responsibility.

It represents the generations of players who have worn it before, the teammates who stand beside one another, and the community that proudly supports Warrior hockey. Success is not measured solely by victories and championships. It is built through discipline, accountability, determination, teamwork, and the willingness to put the team ahead of oneself. Those values form the foundation of the Warriors hockey program and will continue to guide the team throughout the coming season.

One Community. One Warrior Family.

Behind every Warriors hockey team stands a community that makes the program possible. From the families who spend countless hours at the rink to the volunteers, sponsors, alumni, and fans who give their time and resources, Wasilla hockey is strengthened by people who believe in the value of high school athletics. The Warriors are proud to represent Wasilla, the Mat-Su Valley, and the generations of supporters who have helped build this program. As a new season begins, we look forward to welcoming returning families, introducing new members of the Warrior hockey family, and seeing our stands filled with the familiar faces and voices that make playing hockey in Wasilla special.

The Next Chapter Is Ours to Write

The 1989 state championship appearance. The return to the championship game in 2022. The Railbelt/Conference titles. The state tournament battles. Each represents a chapter in the story of Wasilla Warriors hockey. But history is not where our story ends. The 2026–27 Warriors have an opportunity to build upon that legacy, establish their own identity, and pursue the championship that generations of Warriors have worked toward. The road ahead will demand commitment, resilience, and sacrifice. There will be challenges, victories, setbacks, and moments that define the season. Through it all, the expectations remain the same. Play for the name on the front of the jersey. Respect those who wore it before you. Leave the program stronger for those who will follow.

The tradition is ours to honor. The future is ours to earn.

WELCOME TO THE 2026–27 WASILLA WARRIORS HOCKEY SEASON.

GO WARRIORS!
